May 17, 2025

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour continues to bring memorable battles to the Mubadala Arena in its last tournament of the 2024-2025 season. After opening the competition with Masters and Amateurs yesterday, the ADGS Abu Dhabi returned for its second day this Saturday, May 17th, this time bringing the Youth category to put their skills to the test and give fight fans a glimpse into the future of the sport.

Starting with the purple belts, the Emirati Harib Alhammadi used his technical prowess to come out on top of the 66kg division. With four competitors in the bracket, Harib first went up against Imranali Karimzhanov in the semifinal, taking the lead and landing the scoreboard at 6-3 before finding the submission halfway through the bout. For his final round, Harib went up against João Eduardo Batista and took the title after a somewhat balanced match, scoring a 3-0 to take the win and the title.

Moving on to the blue belts, the Bahrain representative Pedro Jesus went through an exhausting bracket to conquer the 94kg division gold, overcoming no less than four opponents on his way to the title. Starting off strong with submission wins against Zayed Alhosani and Muslim Muradov, Pedro advanced to the semifinals to face Talal Saeed, showing great technique and control as he landed a comfortable 9-0 score to reach the end of the bracket. Pedro's last opponent was Nursultan Nurgaliyev, who reached the gold round after submitting every single one of his opponents. But despite facing a clearly talented foe, Pedro kept his head in the game and let his Jiu-Jitsu loose one last time, once again dominating the match and taking the top spot on the podium with an 8-0 score.

Another powerful blue belt highlighting the tournament was the Kazakh Anelya Tsoy, who entered the women's 44kg division and took the title with great performances. Starting in the semifinal, Anelya showed how skilled she is from the get-go, putting on a dominating display and beating Fatima Alktheeri with a comfortable 8-1 score. However, it was only in the final round that Anelya's game really shone brightly, with the young athlete facing Shouq Alnofeli for the gold. Putting the pedal to the metal, Anelya quickly took control of the match and went all out against her opponent, keeping Shouq in check as she unleashed a barrage of attacks and earned many points for it. With the scoreboard sitting at an unbelievable 23-0, Anelya went even further and managed to lock a winning submission around the three-minute mark, becoming the division champion with a powerful display of technique.

With two days down and one to go, the ADGS Abu Dhabi now prepares to receive the aces of the Professional category for its grand-finale this Sunday, May 18th.
