February 18, 2025

Famous for hosting high-level Jiu-Jitsu tournaments worldwide, the AJP has decided to once again shake things up in the international competitive scene and announced the Abu Dhabi Grappling Grand Prix. A brand-new series of No-Gi events added to the organization's official calendar, the Grappling Grand Prix aims to take the sport to the next level with a dynamic rule set that focuses on effectiveness and control of the fight area, introducing a 10-point must system scoring that emphasizes dominance in the mats and drives an athlete to focus on pursuing the submission at all times.

Offering 2000 points to each gold medalist, the Grappling Grand Prix comes as another option for no-gi athletes to pursue the top of the no-gi global rankings while also joining the organization's roster in a standalone series of events that rewards champions with world recognition. With each match judged by effective grappling, aggressiveness, and fighting area control, each tournament stands to be more high-octane than the previous one as the AJP goes all out and welcomes warriors from other martial arts like Judo, Wrestling, Sambo, and many others.

"No points. No politics. Just pure grappling. It’s submission or nothing", said Rodrigo Valerio, Operation Director at Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP). "This isn’t about playing it safe or collecting advantages. We’re creating a space where different styles clashes, expanding beyond traditional Jiu-Jitsu circles and pulling in talent from wrestling, judo, sambo, submission grappling, and more. The goal is to build an environment where the best of the best clash, no matter their background, and find out who the real submission artists are.If you’re an athlete who’s tired of playing the points game or a fan who wants to see grappling in its rawest form, this is where you want to be."

The Abu Dhabi Grappling Grand Prix will hold its first-ever tournament in the Serbian capital of Belgrade on March 16th, welcoming athletes of all ages and graduations to show their skills at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. After that, the tournament is set to visit Russia on April 20th, Austria on May 25th, and the UAE on June 14th and 15th. Lastly, the Grand Prix will lay down its roots in Abu Dhabi and bring about the ultimate challenge with the World Grappling Championship bringing the toughest and meanest competitors out there to fight for dominance between July 10th and 13th.
