Alavanca Jiujitsu Academy was founded in 2022 by Professor Felipe Jockyman. A lifelong martial artist, Prof. Felipe started his jiujitsu journey in 1995. Prof. Felipe is a black belt under Walter Mattos and the BJJ legend, Mario Sperry. Prof. Felipe has worked for many years with the Federation of Brazilian Jiujitsu (FBJJ), United Arab Emirates Federation (UAEJJF) and the Abu Dhabi Pro (AJP) promoting the art globally through high-level jiujitsu competitions. Prof. Felipe’s teaching styling involves a mix of jiujitsu styles that have influenced his jiujitsu journey since 1995, now adapted into a unique methodology he shares with his students. Prof. Felipe emphasises the importance of jiujitsu as a martial art for self-defence but also teaches sports jiujitsu, gi and no-gi in its modern version with tailored drills.
