The Qualification System aims to ensure that the principles of Universality, Performance, Country Representation and Gender Equity, remain the focus for the AJP participation. In addition, a number of other technical principles and rules have been established to provide a basis for the development of the AJP Qualification System.

The ranking is the fairest way of awarding the effort and the talent of each athlete that signs up to one of the AJP tournaments throughout the year. It is also a great incentive for more and more athletes to take part in as many events as they can.

THE AJP GRAPPLING RANKING PERIOD WILL BE FOR 12 MONTHS, STARTING ON JULY 16TH, 2024, AND FINISHING ON JULY 15TH, 2025

The Seven (7) best results during next season (12 months’ period) will count + one extra (8th) result from the Continental + the final result (9th) of Abu starting from 15th July 2024.

The points for each individual tournament will expire as follows:

  • From 16th July 2024 to 15th July 2025, the points will count 100%.

NOTE: The ranking period for Season 2024-2025 will be from July 16th, 2024 to July 15th, 2025.

  • AJP National
  • AJP Continental

The year-end AJP Ranking is based on calculating, the total points respecting the best results quotas (1 ADWPJC 2025 result + 1 Continental result + 7 best results) for each player of the ranking period:

  • One (1) Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship
  • Ten (10) Abu Dhabi Grand Slams World Tour
  • Six (6) AJP Continental Championships
  • Sixty (60) AJP National Championships
  • Twenty (20) AJP Regional Championships
  • Eighty (80) AJP International Championships

DEFINITIONS

1. The AJP Ranking is the mathematical method of ranking men and women on a calendar-year basis.

2. The AJP Ranking is the objective merit-based method used for determining qualificationfor fighters' entries and seeding in all championships.

3. The AJP Ranking is run approximately 100~150 times per year (only GI championships). *NO GI championships count points for World Grappling  Ranking.

4. Every fighter who has earned AJP Ranking points in an eligible AJP professional or regional championship during the entry ranking period is included in the AJP Rankings.

5. Fighters may not change team academy during the season, due the Academy Ranking System.

IMPORTANT:

  • Fighters alone in a bracket will be moved to an upper divisions.

Exception where points will be given:

  • in a case where divisions cannot be merged such Women 95 kilos or Men 120 Kilos, the points will be credited.
  • Special cases will be checked by AJP Committee and points can be credited.
  • Divisions with 2 (two) players will run normally, players won't be moved to next division. 
  • Open weight light and heavy does not count for nine (9) best results. Points will be disregarded.
  • For the best academy, the ranking points in all Kids divisions (from Kids 1 to Teen, all belt levels) and the white belt divisions (up to Master 4) are worth 50%.
  • Points from Abu Dhabi World Festival (kids and parajiu-jitsu) will not be credited for Best International Players Rank, neither Best International Academy.
  • Cases where belts divisions are merged, the points will be credited according to the current fighter's belt.
  • Cases where ages categories are merged, the points will be credited according to the current age registered. If a players is moved from Master 1 to Amateur/Professional, the points will be credited to Master 1 Rank.
  • Ranking points will not be transferred from one belt rank to the next one.
  • Ranking points will not be transferred from one age division to another.
  • If a fighter changes nationality, age group or belt division during Season Qualification period he/she loses all points in the AJP Rank and has to start with 0.

ADDITIONAL RULES:

In case of equality of total RANK points, the higher ranking will be decided by:

1. The highest sum of the current points from Abu Dhabi World Pro.

2. The highest sum of the current points from all Abu Dhabi Grand Slams.

3. The highest sum of the current points from all Continental, followed by National, Regional, and International Championships.

4.  The highest current points from one single event, then, if needed, the second highest, and so on.

5. If the competitors are still equal the decision will be taken by the number of matches done by the fighter through the season, followed by the fastest submission(s) or who made more points during the matches in case of Abu Dhabi World Pro Qualification.

6. If a fighter decides to change nationality, upgrade belt or move age group during Season Qualification period he/she loses all points in the AJP World Rank and has to start with 0.
