ADWPJJC 2024: Professionals enter the qualifier round and fight for the chance to compete in the main bracket

Another day and another round of high-octane action in the sixteenth edition of the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024. One of the most important competitions in the AJP calendar, the ADWPJJC 2024 started last week on November 6th and is still going strong, as athletes of all ages and graduations step up to the mats and show their skills while seeking the coveted gold medal.

After amazing performances by Youths, Amateurs, and Masters, the time has finally come for the Professional category to take the stage. Starting this Thursday, November 14th, the long-awaited Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024 has begun, bringing the purple, brown, and black belts that stand atop the competitive food chain to test themselves in the most challenging battleground of all. With the first day dedicated to the qualifier rounds, competitors were grouped up with their compatriots and fought for a chance to join the main bracket.

Among the black belts, the tournament was highlighted by great performances from both Zayed Alkatheeri and Omar Alfadhli as they defeated their opponents in the UAE qualifiers. Meanwhile, the Brazilian qualifiers saw the rise of names like Thalison Soares, Jefferson Fagundes, Catriel Rodrigues, and Mikael Rhaillander on the men's side, and Sabatha Laís, Maria Nunes, and Grasielle Brandão on the women's side.

Standing out in the Russian qualifiers, Iurii Kuznetsov, Stanislav Varshavskiy, and Nikolay Salmin are just a few of the names making their way to the main bracket. The black belt qualifiers also featured Juan Carlos Diaz and Darwin Garnica advancing in the Colombian bracket, and Pedro Cadete passing this stage to represent Portugal in the following days of the tournament.
