ADXC 8: Jafel Filho, Roberto Cyborg, Khaled Al Shehhi, and all the champions of Al Ain
December 6, 2024
Taking place this Friday, December 6th, the eighth edition of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship brought the organization back to the UAE and put on another memorable event for fight fans. Held at the Adnec Centre, in Al Ain, the competition featured 13 matches between some of the best competitors from both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, using the amazing structure of the ADXC to deliver an amazing show of lights and sounds as each of the warriors entered Grappling's most famous cage.
Headlining the tournament with a Grappling match, the Main Event saw Jafel Filho defeat Amir Albazi after a balanced duel throughout the five regulated rounds. Fighting out of Brazil, Jafel was highly aggressive at all times, countering takedown attempts with guillotines, sweeping, passing, and even taking the back after a particularly dangerous sequence that almost ended with his opponent subbed. For his part, Amir did a great job with single and double-legs, but the offensiveness of Jafel's game helped the Brazilian to convince the referees, who gave him the victory unanimously.
"I'm happy for the opportunity to compete in the ADXC", cheered Jafel. "My opponent is the top 3 in my MMA weight division, so I trained a lot for this fight and I'm very happy with the results."
Meanwhile, Roberto Cyborg added another victory to his ADXC record in the Co-Main Event. Up against the big guy Haisam Rida in a Grappling bout, Cyborg went all-out with his takedown game, bringing Haisam down multiple times over the course of the match. In the latter rounds, Haisam seemed to have found his pace and even made a couple of dangerous moves, but his Brazilian opponent managed to avoid the riskier positions and took the win via split decision.
In addition to the Main and Co-Main Events, the ADXC 8 also had another 11 duels to spice up the night of the tournament. Check out below how the Main Card, Showcase, and Prelim matches went down.
