
AJP Egypt National: Second and final day of thrilling fights in Cairo

On the second day of action in Cairo, at the AJP Tour Egypt National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2023, the five mat areas set up in the New Capital Indoor Hall became three, to concentrate even more action for the fans who followed the fights in the gymnasium and live on AJPTour TV. The First Abu Dhabi Bank is the official sponsor of AJP National Pro in Egypt.
After a bombastic first day with young athletes and adults fighting at the no-gi division, this Saturday, March 4th, gave the competitors with the Gi a chance to shine. Professionals, masters, and even amateurs gave the public a show by displaying the best of their technique and willpower.

MEN'S GI / BLUE / AMATEUR / 77KG
Fahad Alhammadi (Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu) had to face three fights before reaching the title. After winning his first two, by points first and then a submission in the semifinal, Fahad faced Abdulaziz Almohanadi, from Qatar. After a sweep in the beginning, Fahad put pressure looking for a breach to pass the guard, capitalized three points for almost passing twice, and reached the back. 5-0 and the gold medal for the promising emirate.
MEN'S GI / PURPLE / PROFESSIONAL / 85KG
Representing Egypt, Mohamed Elmogy (Atrixion MMA) dived into a best-of-three-match bracket against Mansoor Alhosani. Mohamed wasted no time and finished both bouts to secure the title. In the first one, he submitted with a cross-choke from the mount. In the next duel, Mohamed passed the guard, got into the mount, and got the armbar done.
MEN'S GI / PURPLE / PROFESSIONAL / 94KG
Champion of the Abu Dhabi World Pro 2022, Abdulrahman Alshimmari shone once again at the highest place on the podium in Egypt. After winning his first match 8-0, the Emirate Abdulrahman faced Kazakh Sabiyev Ruslan. To secure the gold medal, Abdulrahman got Sabiyev's back and, as the opponent managed to escape the danger of a back attack, Abdulrahman shot for a triangle and got the winning submission.
MEN'S GI / BROWN / PROFESSIONAL / 120KG
In a duel between fellow Egyptians, Omar Kobbia and Osama Almetwaly faced each other aiming for the 120kg gold medal. All the better for Omar, who managed to win two times in a row in this best-of-three match. Omar won his first match with a cross choke from the closed guard and then secured the title with a good game of passing guard and mount, capitalizing 12-0 on the scoreboard.
WOMEN'S GI / BROWN / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL / 62KG

Teammates Isadora Maggio and Wadima Alyafei were set to fight three times to define the champion in the 62kg division. In her pursuit of the gold, the Brazilian Isadora showed her prowess and submitted Wadima twice in the foot.
MEN'S GI / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL / 69KG
Brazilian countrymen Pablo Mantovani and Bruno Borges were set to face each other in a best-of-three match, but Pablo got his pressure game on point in Egypt, managed to apply a solid set of guard passes, and won two times for the gold, both via points (13-3, and 6-2).
MEN'S GI / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL / 77KG
Andre Cantanhede, a Brazilian fighting for Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club, won two times to reach the gold medal. After submitting the Russian Magomed Ansarov, Andre faced Ali Abualhaj, winning via points with 3-2 on the scoreboard.
MEN'S GI / BLACK / PROFESSIONAL / 120KG
Brazil and USA got in the finals at 120kg. Brazilian Igor Sousa faced American Sean Goolsby after both won their semifinals via points. In the final round, Igor swept and secured the score to take the gold home.
