After an explosive first day, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour Rio de Janeiro is back for more action this Sunday, July 20th, bringing athletes from all corners of the world to show their skills and fight for the coveted ADGS gold medal at the Arena Carioca 1. After the Youths and Amateurs warmed up the stage yesterday, the time has come for the Masters and Professionals to step up to the battlefield and take the top spot on the podium.

Armed with their experience and technical knowledge, the Masters took the stage at the start of the day, with the black belts of the Master 1 category bringing the fighting styles they honed around the world to try and seize the title in the Brazilian tournament. Starting with the men, Oziel Carvalho submitted two opponents before landing a 2-0 win over Andre Militão for the 56kg title, while Gabriel Souza got the 62kg gold medal after winning two fights via points and submitting Rhaue Scuzziato around the two-minute mark of the last match.

In the 69kg division, Marlus Salgado got the better of four foes before beating the favorite Thiago Macedo by 2-0 to reach the top of the podium, Thiago Marques submitted all four of his adversaries to become the 77kg champion, and Matheus Luna secured the win in the 85kg final by scoring last in a 1-1 tie. The 94kg title went to Thiago Evangelista via decision after six minutes of an incredibly balanced match against Leandro Santos, and the 120kg division was once again ruled by Felipe Bezerra, who outscored all his opponents and came out on top of the gold round with a 6-3 win over Rodrigo Ribeiro.

On the women's side, Lina Grosset became the 62kg division champion after submitting Silvina Fuentealba in the semifinal and then scoring last in a 3-3 tie against Milene Silva in the gold round. Last but not least, Barbara Brito took the 70kg title after two hard-fought battles in the bracket, with a 2-0 victory over Luana Matos followed by a 4-0 score against Damaris Quezada in the last match.
