The 2024-2025 season is shaping up to be another astounding success for the AJP, as the organization brings its high-octane competitions to many different countries around the world. With an installment of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam taking place each month so far, the AJP has made sure to keep the action at an all-time high, and August simply could not be any different. So, before we start making plans for September, let's take a second to go over the highlights of the month of August.
Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour Moscow 2024: Professional black belts take the ADGS gold in Russia
Taking place between August 30th and September 1st, the ADGS Moscow 2024 landed at the Sports Academy Dinamo, welcoming competitors from all over the world to visit Russia and put their skills to the test to conquer the gold. With Amateurs fighting on the first day, Youths and Masters on the second, and Professionals going at it on the third and final day, the tournament had almost no restrictions for registration and offered each champion 2000 ranking points in addition to the coveted gold medal.
Saving the best for last, the ADGS Moscow had the Professional Black Belt category take the mats on Sunday, September 1st, and the Elite of Jiu-Jitsu was ready to put on another memorable show. The lighter divisions were all swept up by the UAE's talented athletes, with Omar Alsuwaidi landing a 3-0 win over Theyab Alnuaimi in the 56kg division final, Khaled Alshehhi scoring last in a 1-1 tie against Yuri Hendrex for the 62kg gold, and Mohammed Alsuwaidi locking a triangle armbar on Omar Alfadhli to become the 69kg champion.
Over at the 77kg division, Jefferson Goteu trumped Lucas Protasio in an intense battle that ended with an 8-2 score, while the showman Uanderson Ferreira unleashed his Jiu-Jitsu and got a whopping 20-0 victory over Ramazan Shihshabekov in the 85kg final. Opening the gold round with a beautiful takedown, Luiz Henrique Betta scored 3-0 against Abdulbari Guseinov to take the 94kg title, and Felipe Bezerra became the 120kg champion after an 11-0 win against Vladimir Blium in the heaviest division.
On the women's side, Diana Teixeira secured her win and the 49kg title by locking a last-second submission against Anastasiia Leonovich, Lina Grosset got a narrow 1-0 win over Lara Castro for the 55kg gold, and Julia Alves got the top spot on the 62kg podium after scoring last in a 2-2 tie against Dayane Bazzoni.
AJP Tour Dubai International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024: Elite of Jiu-Jitsu fights for gold and glory in the UAE
While the ADGS raised the action to another level in Russia, the Dubai International went all-out with local and foreign athletes flocking over to the Shabab Al Ahli Club between August 30th and September 1st. With three days of competition and five packed fight areas, the tournament was another sound success in AJP's resumé, with competitors of all ages and graduations leaving their hearts on the mats for the gold.
Taking the stage on the competition's last day, the Professional black belt category was more than ready to put on a show for the attending crowd and the fight fans following the action live at the TX7.com streaming platform. In the 62kg division, Bruno Borges got the gold by scoring last in a 1-1 tie against Bernardo Moraes, while Ricardo Conceição submitted his teammate Antonio Neto for the 69kg title.
Ali Monfaradi outscored Fernando Favari in the 77kg final, Jonatham Silva landed a 2-0 win over Marcos Paulo Costa to take the 85kg gold, and Catriel Rodrigues submitted Denis Souza to become the 94kg division champion. Speaking of champions, Wallace Costa conquered the 120kg bracket and rose to the top of the podium with a 5-3 win over Sviatoslav Ognev.
On the women's side, Juliane Moraes got two consecutive wins to take the 55kg gold, Rafaela Bertolot beat Eduarda Lima via decision to become the 62kg champion, and Master 1 gold medallist Marcelle Catanhede got her second title by outscoring Yara Kakish in the 95kg division final.
AJP Tour Singapore National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024: Black belts fight to become champions in Orchard Road
On August 17th, the Singapore National landed at the Far East Plaza for an entire afternoon of high-level competition, offering the attending athletes 1000 ranking points and the chance to take their Jiu-Jitsu to the next level while facing other powerful AJP competitors. Coming as a highlight in the tournament, the Professional black belt category had no shortage of talented fighters looking for the gold.
In the gi, Thales Nakassu got the 62kg title after outscoring Said Almazrouie, Alexsandro Machado overcame three tough opponents to reach the 85kg gold, and Henrique Cabral became the 120kg division champion after submitting both his opponents. On the women's side, Fatima Eltassi outscored Miranda Okazima and submitted Wengmiao Liang to take the gold medal in the 70kg division.
Later on, the No-Gi battles dialed the heat up yet again, with Said Almazrouie getting both the 62kg title and some much-needed payback from Thales Nakassu. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Marello outscored Rafael Figueiredo for the 85kg title, and Yousif Alhammadi became the 94kg division champion after beating Fahad Alsukar in the final round.

The month of September is going to be stacked, even by AJP standards. First and foremost, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Tour gets ready for its next chapter, this time turning its sights to the American state of Texas. Taking place between September 28th and 29th, the ADGS Dallas 2024 brings the tournament's signature action to the Curtis Culwell Center, with 3000 ranking points on the line for each of its champions. If you're looking to make a name for yourself on the tour, the registration window closes on September 23rd, so don't waste any more time.
In addition to the ADGS, three Continentals will be featured throughout this month. The first one will be the Asia Continental, tournament which will take place between September 13th and 15th at the Mubadala Arena, in Abu Dhabi. After that, the Africa Continental lands at the Hall 1 Cairo International Stadium, in Egypt, welcoming athletes of all ages and graduations between September 20th and 21st. Last but not least, the Oceania Continental will be held on September 22nd at the Billbergia Sports Centre, in Australia.
As if that wasn't enough, the AJP will also bring its usual batch of Nationals, Regionals, and Internationals. On the National side of things, the organization will visit Peru on September 7th and 8th, Germany on September 8th, Latvia on September 14th, Portugal on September 21st, Kazakhstan between September 21st and 22nd, Chile and South Africa on September 28th and 29th, and Italy on September 29th.
Moving on to Regionals, this month's offerings are the following: Almaty (September 8th), Bashkortostan (September 14th), South Angola (September 15th), South Brazil (September 21st-22nd), Yangtze River Delta (September 21st-22nd), Chuy (September 22nd).
Finally, the Internationals of September will be the following: Córdoba (September 14th), Jakarta (September 14th), Brasília (September 15th), Chihuahua (September 21st), Dalanzadgad (September 21st), Varazdin (September 28th).
