
Weekend Recap: AJP promotes six high-level tournaments around the world

The action continues here at AJP, with the organization bringing another batch of tournaments and giving athletes worldwide the chance to test themselves and take their skills to the next level. This weekend, the AJP prepared no less than six competitions for fight fans, with three Nationals, one Regional, and two Internationals being held between Saturday and Sunday. We have a lot of ground to cover, so fasten your seatbelts, and let's check out the highlights from each championship.
AJP Tour Ecuador National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Patricio Loor takes the Open Weight gold in Guayaquil
Taking place throughout the weekend, the Ecuador National landed at the Federación Ecuatoriana de Judo for two whole days of action, giving local and foreign competitors the chance to rack up important ranking points while putting their Jiu-Jitsu to the test against talented opponents.
Among the many athletes who rose to the top of the podium, the local Patricio Loor (Team Predador International) stole the spotlight with his triumph in the ever-challenging Open Weight division. His journey, however, began in the 85kg bracket, in which he outscored Hugo Mendez (Sports Dynamics Jiu Jitsu) before being bested by his Brazilian teammate Luiz Santos and taking the silver medal.
Despite having the gold slip through his fingers the first time around, Patricio showcased impressive resilience and mental fortitude as he not only came back for more but also joined the notoriously challenging Open Weight division. Competing in the Open Heavyweight bracket, Patricio had a challenging duel right off the bat, beating his compatriot and teammate Jonathan Polit via decision after an incredibly balanced match that took up the entirety of the regulated time and golden score. With the top spot on the podium in his sights yet again, Patricio went toe-to-toe with the local Juan Perez (Sports Dynamics Jiu Jitsu) in another tight battle, taking the win and the title with a narrow 1-0 score.

AJP Tour South Korea National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Jaeyoung Lee and Igor Dziag conquer the Professional gold in Seoul
On Saturday, March 22nd, the South Korea National took over the Wa-Dong Gymnasium and dialed the action all the way up to eleven as it welcomed talented rookies and battle-hardened veterans to show what they've got while fighting for the coveted AJP gold medal.
Highlighting the tournament, two Professional black belts went all out in their campaigns for the title and showed the world what it takes to compete among the fearsome elite of Jiu-Jitsu. First, the local Jaeyoung Lee (WIRE) used his technical prowess to come out on top of the 77kg division, starting with a 5-0 win over the Mongolian Davaadorj Munkhtur (Khan-Uul Jiu Jitsu Academy) in the semifinal. In the final round, Jaeyoung went up against his compatriot Semin Gil (Tri-Force Seoul) and used his skills to seize the lead in the scoreboard and then control the flow of the match to become the champion with a 4-0 score.
Meanwhile, the Polish Igor Dziag (Commando Group) went through the 85kg division like a freight train as he submitted his opponents to take the title. Going straight for the semifinal, Igor first faced the US' Dave Kim (Jiu Jitsu Land - John Frankl Team) in the bracket, using his aggressive game to quickly overwhelm his opponent and lock the winning submission around the one-minute mark. Now in the gold round, Igor went up against the local Seonghun Yu (ASM BJJ Association) and put the pedal to the metal right from the start, quickly taking control of the match and getting the three taps with a little over 30 seconds on the clock.

AJP Tour Lithuania National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Omer Negm becomes a triple champion in Kaunas
On that same Saturday, the AJP made its way to northeastern Europe and brought the Lithuania National to the Kauno Sport Hale. With three fight areas and talented colored belts of all ages, the competition had no shortage of action as each of the athletes stepped up to the mats with their sights set on the 1000 global ranking points reserved for each champion.
Speaking of champions, the Austrian blue belt Omer Negm (Gremlin Jiu Jitsu) went above and beyond expectations as he attained that title not once or twice but three consecutive times. Omer's journey started in the 85kg division, with the Austrian athlete taking the title after submitting the local Edvinas Galdikas (Mascarenhas Team Klapeida) and the Greek Georgios Koutsouridis (Athlos Jiu-Jitsu). Next, Omer decided to up the challenge and joined the Open Heavyweight bracket for Professional purple belts, first submitting his compatriot Kalvis Vitols (A-Force BJJ International) in the quarterfinals, then outscoring the Lithuanian Ovidijus Galinskas (A-Force BJJ International) by 14-8 in the semis, and reaching the top of the podium after submitting the local Ignas Vaiciulis (Roger Gracie Academy Klapeida).
As if that wasn't enough, Omer made his way back to the battlefield not long later with his eyes on the No-Gi 85kg bracket. Starting in the semifinal, Omer had a rematch with Greece's Georgios Koutsouridis (Athlos Jiu-Jitsu) and scored 10-1 before ultimately submitting at the last minute of the duel. In the final, the Austrian went toe-to-toe with the local Paulius Valeikis (A-Force BJJ International) and completely dominated his opponent, scoring a whopping 22-1 win to take his third and final gold medal that day.

AJP Tour Lima International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Tano Fernandez keeps the double gold in Peru
Held at the Reserclub between Saturday and Sunday, March 22nd and 23rd, the Lima International took over the Peruvian Jiu-Jitsu scene and had athletes of all ages and graduations putting on their best performances against one another to receive the gold and glory of being champion in the AJP.
Coming as the tournament's highlight, the local Master 1 black belt Tano Fernandez (JFC Almeida JJ) had his skills and experience on full display as he went through two brackets and emerged victorious on both of them. Fighting in the 77kg division on the first day, Tano went straight to the semifinal and faced the Chilean Roberto Pincheira (PSLPB Cícero Costha), taking the win by 3-0. In the final, Tano went toe-to-toe with his compatriot Abraham Alonso (Association Aranha) in a challenging duel, with both sides going at it until the end of the regulated time and Tano coming out on top with a 5-1 score.
On the following day, Tano made his way back to the battlefield and entered the No-Gi 77kg division, facing Roberto Pincheira in a rematch for the gold. Showcasing not only his technical know-how but also his mileage as a competitor, Tano didn't take too long to seize the advantage on the scoreboard and started controlling his opponent's advances, keeping Roberto under pressure until the clock ran out to take his second gold medal with a 4-0 score.

AJP Tour Sochi International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Tamerlan Eslemesov becomes a triple champion in Russia
On Sunday, March 23rd, the “Yug-Sport” Sport Center opened its doors for the Sochi International and gave local athletes the chance to compete while easing travel expenses and providing foreigners with the chance to see another beautiful country through the lens of Jiu-Jitsu.
Enter Tamerlan Eslemesov (Top Team Fight Club), a local Professional black belt currently sitting atop the AJP European ranking who went through all his opponents and conquered the astonishing triple gold in the competition. His campaign began in the 94kg division, with Tamerlan making short work of his compatriot Andrey Zakutniy (LGJJ) as he went on the offensive and locked the winning submission with less than one minute on the clock. Later, Tamerlan took off the cloth and joined the No-Gi 94kg division, running into Andrey Zakutniy once again. Well aware of his opponent's aggressiveness this time around, Andrey managed to avoid any submissions and even scored a few times, but Tamerlan still had the upper hand throughout the match, ending the duel with a 12-4 score to take his second title.
Back in the gi, Tamerlan closed his journey in the Sochi International by entering the Open Heavyweight division, starting with a whopping 29-0 win over the local Viktor Zhigulskii (GFTeam Russia) in the semifinal. For his last match, Tamerlan ended up running into Andrey Zakutniy for the third time and, like before, offered his opponent no quarter, scoring 7-0 before ultimately submitting halfway through the match.

AJP Tour Central Panamá Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Professionals take the gold in Panama City
Also on Sunday, the Central Panamá Regional brought the AJP action to the Ginásio dos Guadiōes SPI, setting up three fight areas and offering an entire afternoon of competition for colored and black belts of all ages.
The event was highlighted by the black belts from the Professional category, who put on memorable performances as they fought for the top of their respective weight classes. In the 62kg division, the Colombian Jeison Moura (Team FCJJ Colombia) got a 4-2 win over the local Jorge Calvino (GFTeam) in the final, while the Panamanian Carlos Milord (Serpente Jiu-Jitsu) did the same to overcome his compatriot Juan Sevillano (GFTeam) for the 77kg title.
Up on the 85kg division, the Brazilian Luiz Santos (Team Predador International) outscored the Bolivian Bruno Ressini (Serpente Jiu-Jitsu) and the Costa Rican Jose Araya (RCBJJ Costa Rica) to become the champion, and the 120kg gold medal went to Ecuador's Adrian Almeida (Team Predador International), who landed a 6-2 win over Brazil's Mauro Higgins (Gracie Sports USA). Last but not least, the Costa Rican Jose Araya made his way to the mats and entered the No-Gi 85kg division, submitting the Bolivian Bruno Ressini to climb the podium.
