
Weekend Recap: Professionals put on memorable battles to become champions in the Europe Continental

Landing in Spain for a weekend of competition, the AJP Tour Europe Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 landed at the Polideportivo Jose Caballero in Madrid and had athletes of all ages and graduations showing their skills and fighting for gold, glory, and a whopping 1400 global ranking points between Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th. With Youths and Masters kicking off the first day of the event, the Amateur and Professional categories were tasked with keeping the action high on the second and last day of the tournament.
As always, the black belts of the Professional category spared no effort as they climbed the brackets and aimed for the top of their respective weight divisions, highlighting the competition with performances and techniques worthy of the title "Elite of Jiu-Jitsu". Starting with the men, the 62kg division saw Bruno Borges (Abu Dhabi Police Academy) take the gold after submitting Jose Beteta (Ja Jiu-Jitsu España) and outscoring Lucas Feitosa (Alcateia Jiu Jitsu) in a round-robin, while Giuliano Spera (Alvorada Jiu-Jitsu) took over the 69kg division with a decision win over Eduardo Arias (MOD UAE) followed by a 6-1 score victory against Luis Carlos Pinheiro (Somos Jiu-Jitsu).
Lucas Protasio (Checkmat International) dominated the 77kg bracket by submitting both Nadav Bar-gil (Team Glam/Maccabi Ale Ariel) and Hugo le Metour (Humbling Jiu Jitsu Club), Ahmed Laaribi (Atos) got the 85kg title after scoring last to beat Matheus Vetoraci (Blvckout Grappling) in the semis and submitting Nikolay Vetrov (Fighting Sport Arts) in the final, and Alexander Sak (Europe Nova Jiu-Jitsu Team) conquered the top of the podium in the 120kg division after landing a 8-2 score over David Hugonin (Le Labo BJJ). On the No-Gi side, Lucas Feitosa (Alcateia Jiu Jitsu) submitted Jose Beteta (Ja Jiu-Jitsu España) twice for the 62kg title, Pawel Kozlowski (Gremlin Jiu Jitsu) put the scoreboard at 4-0 to overcome Nadav Bar-gil (Team Glam/Maccabi Ale Ariel) for the 77kg gold, and Nikolay Vetrov (Fighting Sport Arts) got a 4-1 win over Francisco Santana (Werdum Combat Team France) to become the 85kg champion.
Moving on to the women, Diana Teixeira (Atos) submitted Catalina Mora (Athletic Advance) before getting a decision win over Laurie Rocha (Alvorada Jiu-Jitsu) in the 55kg final, Tamara Toros landed a submission and then outscored Lina Grosset in a best-of-three bracket for the 62kg title, Laura Sieradzan (Checkmat International) got a submission win against Elisa Guerra (Caimani Team Treviso Ita) before beating both Denise Krahn (Hilti BJJ Berlin) and Nadine Tavares (Checkmat International) via points to climb the 70kg podium, and Denise Krahn (Hilti BJJ Berlin) got the three taps from Rima Yacoub (The Dojo Academy) and Daniella Fabelo (Carlson Gracie Team Canarias) to conquer the No-Gi 70kg division.
