ADWPJJC champions set their sights on AJP South America Continental title
February 8, 2024
With a week full of attractions in Balneário Camboriú, athletes and fans from all over Brazil and the world are starting to pack their bags to head for Santa Catarina. On March 1st to 3rd, the best competitors on the planet will make their way to the Expocentro and fight at the AJP South America Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2024.
Among the locals and foreign fighters looking to score some ranking points, a few familiar faces have registered to join the tournament and add even more heat to the boiling pot that is the Professional black belt category. Four ADWPJJC champions already have their sights set on the South America Continental. AJP ranking lead in the 2021/2022 season, Lucas Protasio registered for the 77kg division, joining the bracket as the favorite for the title. Meanwhile, ADWPJJC 2023 gold medalist Yuri Hendrex has also registered for the tournament, continuing his pursuit of the ranking lead and hunting for the valuable points provided to Continental champions.
Still in the men's category, Felipe Bezerra will also be on the roster. With the double gold he won at the last ADWPJJC after conquering the 120kg division in the Professional and Master categories, Felipe will bring his determination and grit to the mats, with his confidence soaring after his recent victory at the AJP Brazil National. Closing the list, the ADWPJJC champion Izadora Cristina has also registered to fight at the South America Continental, in the women's brown/belt category. After her triumph at the ADGS Tokyo, Izadora seeks to maintain her momentum and climb even higher in the AJP ranking.
In addition to the powerhouses mentioned here, other big names are still set to join the South America Continental's roster, given that the registration window closes on February 26th.
