Weekend recap: AJP closes March with tournaments in Germany, Spain, and Russia

In the last weekend of March, the AJP remained steady in its mission to bring the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu to the world and hosted stellar competitions in three different countries. This time around, the organization brought a Regional to the city of Tambov, in Russia, while also visiting Germany and Spain with Internationals. Without further ado, let's check out the highlights from each championship.

AJP Tour Frankfurt International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Ahmed Laaribi and Marcello Souza take the gold in Germany

On Saturday, March 29th, the Frankfurt International landed at the BudoArena Maintal and welcomed athletes of all ages and graduations to the AJP mats, with each of the attending competitors fighting tooth and nail to conquer the glory of becoming a champion in the organization.

Coming as the highlight in the organization, the black belts Ahmed Laaribi and Marcello Souza stood amongst their peers as they faced their matches and showed everyone what it takes to compete at the top of the competitive food chain. First, in the Professional 94kg division, the Tunisian Ahmed Laaribi (Atos) showed his skills as he faced the Polish Cezary Bielak (Rio Grappling Club Poland) for the weight class gold, taking the lead in the scoreboard by 3-1 before ultimately landing a submission around the three-minute mark.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian black belt Marcello Souza (PSLPB Cícero Costha) entered the Master 3 85kg division and went toe-to-toe with Greece's Christodoulos Paraschakis (Checkmat International) for the title. The duel saw Marcello take and maintain the lead early on, with the Brazilian scoring six points and keeping his opponent under attack until he managed to lock the winning submission with almost two minutes on the clock.

AJP Tour Barcelona International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Lautaro Sanguineme and Erick Gabriel lead Association Aranha to victory in Spain

Taking place on Sunday, March 30th, the Barcelona International took over the Camp del Ferro Sports Center for the entire day, putting up eight fight areas and giving foreign and local athletes alike the chance to show their skills and become champions in their respective weight divisions.

Highlighting the event, the duo Lautaro Sanguineme and Erick Gabriel showcased their skills as they led the Association Aranha to the top of the podium twice. First, in the 77kg division, the Argentine Lautaro Sanguineme seized the title after beating the Brazilian Roger Rodrigues (Gullo Jiu-Jitsu) in the final, scoring multiple times while giving his opponent no chance to do the same and ending the duel with a 12-0 lead.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Erick Gabriel entered the 94kg division and faced Portugal's Renato Pereira (Fight Nation International) in an incredibly balanced final match. The duel took up the entirety of the regulated time, with both sides scoring multiple times while avoiding any dangerous submission attacks. At the end of it all, a narrow 4-3 score gave Erick the win and the top spot on the podium.

AJP Tour Central Black Earth Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Tamerlan Eslemesov takes the double gold in Russia

Still on Sunday, the Tambov Sport Center opened its doors for the Black Earth Regional and welcomed colored and black belts of all ages to put their skills to the test while fighting for gold and glory in the final weekend of March.

Enter Tamerlan Eslemesov, a local Professional black belt representing Top Team Fight Club who went above and beyond in his campaign, rising undefeated from the tournament and becoming a double champion. Starting in the 120kg division, Tamerlan showcased his skill set facing Dmitrii Vostrikov (GFTeam Russia) in the final round, entering a balanced match and then seizing a golden opportunity to end the bout with a submission around the two-minute mark.

Later on, Tamerlan returned and entered the No-Gi 120kg division, once again running into Dmitrii Vostrikov in the fight for the title. Much like their first encounter, Dmitrii started well and managed to avoid being scored against, but Tamerlan quickly found his flow and went on the attack, overwhelming his opponent and submitting with a little over one minute on the clock to secure his second trip to the top of the podium.
