August 25, 2025

On Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th, the AJP Tour Guayaquil Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 took over the Arena José Desimavilla for two days of intense action between athletes of all ages, graduations, and backgrounds. Tempted by the chance to conquer the coveted AJP gold medal and 800 global ranking points in addition to accruing even more experience to their professional careers, competitors from all corners of the planet flocked over to the venue and put their skills to the test in one of the four fight areas of the tournament, fighting tooth and nail to reach the top of the podium.

Highlighting the event, the local Professional black belt Adrian Almeida stole the spotlight with his performances, which landed him not only the title in his weight class but also in the always challenging Open Weight category. A Team Predador International representative with many medals gained in the organization, Adrian began his campaign in the 120kg division, showing his aggressiveness and technical prowess right off the bat with a submission win over Yeffry Rodriguez in the semifinal. In the gold round, facing his teammate Emilio Andrade, Adrian once again proved he was a force to be reckoned with as he quickly took the lead on the scoreboard and started increasing his advantage before getting the three taps halfway through the bout.

With his first title conquered, Adrian was ready for more and entered the Open Heavyweight division ready to overcome even more challenges in his path to glory. Faced with a bracket filled with his teammates, all of whom had gone through similar training in the Team Predador International mats, Adrian started off by beating Carlos Llerena in a balanced semifinal that ended with a 3-0 score. For his last match, Adrian went up against 94kg division silver medalist Patricio Loor in another close battle, with both sides unleashing their Jiu-Jitsu and trying to gain the upper hand over the other throughout the regulated time. With his superior technique, Adrian managed to take the lead on the scoreboard and controlled the match until the clock ran out, securing his second trip to the top of the podium with a 3-0 win.
