ADXC 5: Check out the Main and Co-Main Events of the tournament in Abu Dhabi

July 3, 2024

With its third edition held in Brazil and the fourth bringing the organization's action-packed tournament to the French capital of Paris, the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship is now ready for a much-needed trip home, returning to the UAE's heart with the very best athletes Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling has to offer. With the modern Mubadala Arena set to be its stage, the ADXC 5 now begins to unveil the fights that will lead the card on August 2nd.

In the Grappling Main Event, Urijah Faber will face Bibiano Fernandes, while Rayron Gracie goes toe-to-toe against Marcos Carrozzino in the Jiu-Jitsu Main Event. Before that, Chad Mendes and Kevin Lee clash in the Grappling Co-Main Event, and Pedro Ramalho goes up against Max Lindblad in the Jiu-Jitsu Co-Main Event.

A UFC Hall of Famer and the founder of Team Alpha Male, Urijah Faber brings all of his experience to the ADXC mats. Also known as "The California Kid", Urijah boasts 35 victories to his name in the mixed martial arts, with 17 of those coming via submissions on the neck. With his nimbleness, technical know-how, and broad experience of fighting in a cage, Urijah has a pretty big chance of coming out on top of his ADXC debut.

Across the battlefield, Brazil's Bibiano Fernandes is ready to face his very first duel in the ADXC. Nicknamed "The Flash", Bibiano was a Jiu-Jitsu competitor before becoming famous in the MMA scene, cementing his status at the One Championship by becoming the organization's bantamweight champion, with eight successful title defenses to his name before losing and then reclaiming his throne. With nine out of 24 victories coming via submission in his MMA career, Bibiano is once again ready to show his proficiency in the gentle art, mixing both his backgrounds to emerge victorious in the ADXC cage.

Starring in the Jiu-Jitsu Main Event, Rayron Gracie is back to add another victory to his ADXC record. Representing one of the most important and famous families in the gentle Art, Rayron returns to the organization's cage after beating the experienced Fellipe Andrew at the ADXC 3 last March, and he'll be entering the cage armed with the very same techniques that made him a champion back then. A black belt under Kyra Gracie and with the teachings of Jiu-Jitsu legend Roger Gracie, Rayron has the tools and experience he needs to once again become a champion in the ADXC.

Meanwhile, Marcos Carrozzino comes for his debut in the ADXC. A three-time Abu Dhabi Grand Slam champion, with his latest gold medal coming at the ADGS Istanbul last June, Marcos is a familiar face around AJP tournaments, having competed and won many events in the organization's roster. With 68 victories to his name in the AJP, GFTeam's Marcos is used to facing and beating top-tiered athletes, and he'll be ready to dethrone Rayron and rise as a new champion in the ADXC's birthplace.

Making his debut at the ADXC, the American Chad Mendes joins the tournament's roster to fight at the Grappling Co-Main Event. A UFC veteran with 18 victories under his belt, and a huge mileage at wrestling, Chad is no stranger to cage fights and will use his knowledge of the terrain to gain the upper hand in the bout. On the other side, Kevin Lee also makes his first appearance in the ADXC, stepping up to the cage with the skills and technical know-how that gave him 19 victories in the UFC, with eight of those coming via some merciless chokes and armbars.

Last but not least, the Jiu-Jitsu Co-Main Event brings two powerhouses to the ADXC 5. On one side, ADWPJJC 2023 champion Pedro "Paquito" Ramalho enters the tournament to represent his home country of Portugal with the same highly aggressive fighting style and dangerous guard game that landed him the gold in the aforementioned tournament's 77kg division. On the other, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam champion and AJP veteran Max Lindblad flies the Sweden flag in Abu Dhabi as he makes his debut in the ADXC, ready to put his skillset on full display as he looks for the chance to lock a well-placed submission to emerge victorious from the cage.
