AJP TOUR RANK DEFINITIONS 2020-2021

BEST OF THE SEASON

The Qualification System aims to ensure that the principles of Universality, Performance, Country Representation and Gender Equity, remain the focus for the AJP participation. In addition, a number of other technical principles and rules have been established to provide a basis for the development of the AJP Qualification System.

The ranking is the fairest way of awarding the effort and the talent of each athlete that signs up to one of the AJP tournaments throughout the year. It is also a great incentive for more and more athletes to take part in as many events as they can.

THE AJP TOUR RANKING PERIOD WILL BE IN GENERAL FOR 12 MONTHS, BUT DUE THE WORLD PRO SWITCHED DATE TO NOVEMBER 2021 THIS SEASON WILL BE 18 MONTHS PERIOD.

The Nine* (9) best results during next season (18 months’ period) will count + one extra (10th) result from the Continental Pro + the final result of Abu Dhabi World Professional Championship 13th Edition, starting from 1st May 2020.

* Excluding ADWJJPC 2020 - 12th edition

The points for each individual tournament will expire as follows:

  • From 1st May of 2020 to 30th November of 2021 the points will count 100%.
  • After 1st December of 2021 the points will be reduced to 0 and not accounted anymore.

The dividing line is the first week of December 2021.

NOTE: The ranking period for Season 2021-2022 will be from November 20th, 2021 to November 30th, 2022.

BEST OF CONTINENT / TRAVEL PACKAGES

The top Continental Rank fighters of AJP will win seats (Travel Packages) to Abu Dhabi World Pro 2021.

Maximum of 2 fighters per country for each awarded division according the Continent Quota.

Example: If there are 4 fighters from the same country in the Continental Black Belt Rank, only the top 2 fighters from the same country will be invited (2 fighters will be disregard), followed by the next top 2 fighter from different countries.

* Prizes awarded at ABU DHABI WORLD JIU JITSU AWARDS according to the AJP World Rank from May 1, 2020 to November 30, 2021.

The year-end AJP Ranking is based on calculating, the total points respecting the best results quotas (1 ADWPJC 2021 result + 1 Continental Pro result + 9 best results for each player of the ranking period:

  • One (1) Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship
  • Six (6) Abu Dhabi Grand Slams World Tour
  • Six (6) AJP Continental Pro Championships
  • Thirty (30) AJP National Pro Championships
  • Thirty (30) AJP International Pro Championships

DEFINITIONS

1. The AJP Ranking is the mathematical method of ranking men and women on a calendar-year basis.

2. The AJP Ranking is the objective merit-based method used for determining qualificationfor fighters' entries and seeding in all championships.

3. The AJP Ranking are run approximately 65~70 times per year (only GI championships). *NO GI championships count points for World NO GI Ranking.

4. Every fighter who has earned AJP Ranking points in an eligible AJP professional or regional championship during the entry ranking period is included in the AJP Rankings.

5. Fighters may not change team academy during the season, due the Academy Ranking System.

IMPORTANT:

  • Fighters alone in a bracket will be moved to an upper divisions.

Exception where points will be given:

  • in a case where divisions cannot be merged such Women 95kilos or Men 120Kilos, the points will be credited.
  • in case where there is a non showed up or a disqualification after the brackets are generated, where the fighter have no matches, the points will be credited.
  • Special cases will be checked by AJP Committee and points can be credited.
  • Divisions with 2 (two) players will run normally, players won't be moved to next division. Players must be from different clubs, otherwise, they will be moved to next division.
  • Kids and white belt points worth 50% from ranking points for the best academy.
  • Open weight light and heavy does not count for nine (9) best results. Points will be disregarded.
  • Points from Abu Dhabi World Festival (kids, adult, parajiu-jitsu) will not be credited for Best International Players Rank (Professional), neither Best International Academy.
  • Cases where belts divisions are merged, the points will be credited according to the current fighter's belt.
  • Cases where ages categories are merged, the points will be credited according to the current age registered. If a players is moved from Master 1 to Adult, the points will be credited to Master 1 Rank.
  • Ranking points will not be transferred from one belt rank to the next one.
  • Ranking points will not be transferred from one age division to another.
  • If a fighter changes nationality, age group or belt division during Season Qualification period he/she loses all points in the AJP Rank and has to start with 0.

ADDITIONAL RULES:

In case of equality of total RANK points, the higher ranking will be decided by:

1. The highest sum of the current points from Abu Dhabi World Pro.

2. The highest sum of the current points from all Abu Dhabi Grand Slams.

3. The highest sum of the current points from all Continental Pro, followed by National Pro, International Pro and Regional Championships.

6. The highest current points from one single event, then, if needed, the second highest, and so on.

7. If the competitors are still equal the decision will be taken by the number of matches done by the fighter through the season, followed by the fastest submission(s) or who made more points during the matches in case of Abu Dhabi World Pro Qualification.

8. If a fighter decides to change nationality, upgrade belt or move age group during Season Qualification period he/she loses all points in the AJP World Rank and has to start with 0.
