
Weekend Recap: Four tournaments bring the AJP high-octane action to the world

Closing the month of February with a bang, the AJP has brought one of the busiest weekends of 2025. In addition to the thrills of the ADGS Rome in Italy and the memorable duels of the Africa Continental in Egypt, the organization has still managed to bring its usual batch of competitions to other countries around the globe, with a National on Moldova, Internationals in Argentina and Brazil, and a Regional in Kyrgyzstan. Without further ado, let's check out the highlights from each championship.
AJP Tour Moldova National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Dionis Jorovlea keeps the Professional gold in Chișinău
Held at the State University of Physical Education and Sport on Saturday, February 22nd, the Moldova National welcomed local and foreign colored belts to put their skills to the test against their peers while seeking the coveted AJP gold and 1000 global ranking points.
Among the many competitors who rose to the top of the podium that day, the local brown belt Dionis Jorovlea (Grand Union Jiu Jitsu) managed to impress fight fans with his stellar performance in the Master 1 94kg division final. Facing his compatriot Cucoara Alexandr (On-Top Moldova) for the title, Dionis saw himself locked in a stalemate throughout the first minute of the duel, but the tide didn't take long to change as Dionis saw his opportunity and went on the offensive to lock a winning submission around the two-minute mark. With the victory, Dionis Jorovlea cemented his status as the division champion and took another important step in his Jiu-Jitsu career.

AJP Tour Mendonza International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Simon Tschernij and Janice Miranda take the Open Weight gold in Argentina
Also taking place on Saturday, the Mendonza International landed at the Polideportivo Poliguay in Argentina, opening the doors of the venue for athletes of all ages and graduations to partake in an afternoon of high-level competition.
Coming as the highlights of the tournament, the Professional black belts Simon Tschernij (Ratão Jiu Jitsu Internacional) and Janice Miranda (Cohab Chile) awed fight fans as they used their technical prowess to conquer the toughest battleground of all: The Open Weight division. Starting on the men's side, the Uruguayan Simon Tschernij conquered the Open Lightweight division after an incredibly balanced duel against Chile's Adan Rosas (Checkmat International). The duel took up the entirety of the regulated time and golden score, with both sides locked in a stalemate from beginning to end as they tried to pierce each other's defenses while also avoiding any dangerous attacks. At the end of it all, the judges decided that Simon had been more effective on the mats, thus giving him the win and the title via decision.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, the Chilean Janice Miranda completely dominated her opponents to conquer the No-Gi Open Heavyweight division. With two opponents on the bracket, Janice first went up against the local Carolina Rondini (Lotus Club) in the semifinal, quickly overwhelming her adversary and getting the submission with less than a minute on the clock. Then, in the gold round, Janice faced her compatriot Constanza Seron (RVG) in another quick duel, putting the pedal to the metal from the start and submitting her opponent around the one-minute mark.

AJP Tour Guarapari International Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Wellington Eller takes the double gold in Brazil
On Sunday, February 23rd, the Complexo Esportivo Maurice Santos welcomed local athletes to compete at six fight areas of the Guarapari International, another stellar AJP competition that offered the glory of being a champion while giving each division lead with 600 points to fight for the top in the global rankings.
Highlighting the tournament, the Professional black belt Wellington Eller (Ols Jiu-Jitsu) went above and beyond in his campaign as he conquered the gold medal in his weight class and the Open Weight division. Starting in the 77kg bracket, Wellington first submitted Higor Oliveira (Mjjteam) in the semifinal and then got a 3-0 win over Igor Santos (Mjjteam) to earn his first title. Later on, he returned to the mats to test himself in the Open Lightweight division, outscoring Rosil Filho (Instituto Gracie Kore) in the quarterfinals, submitting Higor Oliveira (Mjjteam), and closing the bracket with another submission victory over Anderson da Trindade (Instituto Gracie Kore).

AJP Tour Chuy Regional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025: Ramazan Tianguber conquers the Professional gold in Kyrgyzstan
On that same Sunday, the Chuy Regional landed at the Gymnasium School 29 and brought an entire afternoon of competition for athletes of all ages and graduations, giving every single one of them the chance to take their Jiu-Jitsu to new heights while adding 800 points to the global rankings.
Showcasing his skills for fight fans and his peers, the local Professional purple belt Ramazan Tianguber (Kyrgyzstan Top Team) conquered the 69kg division to become an AJP champion in his homeland. Up against his teammate and compatriot Rakhimzhan Mashaev, Ramazan dominated the match as he scored multiple points while giving his opponent no chance to do the same. The match took up the entirety of the regulated time and Ramazan emerged victorious at the end of it all with a 6-0 score to take the coveted gold medal.
